Ahmed Elsahib shines in Magpies win

Goals from Arif Hattabi, Lewis Constable & a brace from Ahmed Elshaib secure Bruno Magpies a comfortable 4-0 victory over Cannons.

12071267_10153672512147269_1908511952_nThe first half started with Magpies on the attack with midfield duo Arif & Devonte controlling the game. Twenty minutes in and the first chance was created, Arif Hattabi played the ball to Max Bothen, the striker quick turn and shot saw his effort go just wide of Borda’s goal.

Magpies nearly made it 1-0 midway through the half, a corner was whipped in and met by Max Bothen, his shot was cleared off the line as far as Jack Neale who shot was also cleared off the line. Close call for Cannons but due to some defending and keeping heroics the score stayed at 0-0. 

Magpies continued to dominate, a corner was whipped in by Devonte and found Lewis Constable whose header found Fran Perles who hit the crossbar from one yard out. Just before half-time Magpies broke the deadlock, Ahmed Elshaib worked his way down the wing and his low cross was smashed in by Arif Hattabi.

The second half didn’t start very well for Cannons as their keeper Kaylan Borda had to be substituted due to injury and was replaced by an outfield player. Magpies continued to dominate, winger Elshaib whipped in a cross which found Jack Neale whose shot was cleared off the line again.

Magpies made it 2-0 soon after, Devonte Totesaut whipped in a cross which found the head Elshaib who brought out a great save from the keeper but the rebound was fired home by Lewis Constable. Minutes 12077468_10153672512157269_1832711726_nlater Magpies made it 3-0, winger Ahmed Elshaib skipped past two Cannons defenders and slotted his shot away from a tight angle, giving the keeper no chance.

Ahmed Elshaib continued to create problems for the Cannons defence, the winger danced his way past three players and unleashed a fierce shot which rocketed off the crossbar. Magpies made it 4-0 soon after, Ahmed Elshaib latched onto a great through ball and coolly slotted it past the keepers legs.

Magpies nearly made it 5-0 with the last kick off the ball, Arif Hattabi’s low cross found unmarked midfielder Tome Calvente but the midfielder blazed his effort over from five yards out. The game restarted and referee Joseph Newman blew for full-time.


Cannons goalkeeper Kaylan Borda has confirmed that he sustained a fractured hand after a collision with one of the Magpies defenders. Everyone at Football Gibraltar sends their regards.
