FG caught up with Jesse Victory to talk about Lynx’s draw last week, preparations for their next opponent Europa and more.
Jesse reflected on Lynx’s draw with Magpies last Sunday, “Last week was our biggest game of the season so far against a tough Brunos team. It was definitely a scrappy game and after going 1-0 down the team showed great fight to come back get the draw but we felt that it was a game we could’ve gone on to win. The result is still an important point gained against a direct rival that keeps us near the of the table.”
Lynx currently sit second in the table after five games, only St Joseph’s are higher on goal difference – we asked Jesse what he has made of their season so far, “After 5 games we’ve put ourselves in a great position but it’s true we do have a much more difficult set of fixtures coming up to finish off the first round. A lot of teams have strengthened from last year and will all be looking at that extra Europa League spot but if we can finish the round strongly and keep ourselves near the top, we will have put ourselves in great shape for the rest of the season.“
Next up for Lynx is a tough tie against Europa this Friday, we asked Jesse how preparations have been for the game – “Europa is always going to be a difficult game but we know that if we want to be towards the top at the end of the season these are the games that we need to give big performances in. We’ve been training and preparing well all season, with the results so far and our league position we feel confident going into our next game.”
Lastly, Jesse told us what he hopes to achieve this season – “Our objective for this season would be to finish in that 4th place, Europa League spot that was awarded for this season. After we finished 4th last year it is the least we think we should be aiming for.”
