A 1-1 draw vs Liechtenstein was good enough for Gibraltar to secure an historic promotion to League C of the Nations League this evening.

Gib got off to a great start, as Liam Walker’s corner was turned into the Liechtenstein net by their own player Frommelt. From there, Gibraltar battled to ensure their goal lead stood, and were very unlucky to go in at 1-1.
Despite some great saves from Dayle Coleing, and a potential offside not called, Noah Frick equalised for the visitors just before the break, setting up a big 45 minutes for both nations.
In the second half, Gib almost went back ahead on two separate occasions – Liam Walker, on his 50th cap, hit the crossbar, while Kian Ronan did put the ball in the visitor’s goal, only for an offside to be flagged in the buildup.
Nevertheless, Gib held on strong and ensured they got the final result and the moment they had worked for all year – Julio Ribas was lifted in the air to the tune of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck – and it is safe to say Gib’s players have shocked Europe with their historic promotion.
