Premier Division Player and Manager of the Month – December 2018

The final month of 2018 saw St Joseph’s clean up the FG monthly awards for a second time in as many months, as Boro and Raul Procopio win our Player and Manager of the Month awards for December.

Player of the Month – Salvador Manuel ‘Boro’ Alegre Delgado (St Joseph’s)

This one was a pretty easy choice – after coming second last month to teammate Juanfri in these awards, Boro upped the ante by scoring eight goals in just four games last month, including four in a 7-1 demolition of Lynx; the goals moved Boro to top of the pile in the top goalscorer leaderboard in the process. Perhaps more impressively, he only completed 90 minutes in one of the four games, and was averaging a goal every 37 minutes last month. Lincoln’s Falu came third this month after scoring four goals in three games, while Pibe finished in third this month; the Mons Calpe striker proving to be a reliable attacker as always, having now scored in over 50% of his teams matches this season.

Manager of the Month – Raul Procopio (St Joseph’s)

This award was slightly trickier, as technically Lincoln and Europa also won three games, but didn’t get the benefit of a fourth game like Saints did. However, with Lincoln having three different managers across the month, and one of Europa’s victories being an uncontested walkover vs Boca, we chose to give Procopio his second award in as many months. Although a shock draw to Boca did blot the copybook somewhat, it was sandwiched between a 7-0 and 7-1 victory, while the 1-0 victory vs Gib United ensured they ended the year unbeaten since October. In a wildly unpredictable league this season, St Joseph’s have been a source of relative stability – something the club will no doubt look to continue into the New Year.
