After scoring the late winner vs Lynx yesterday, we interviewed Lincoln’s Jose Manuel ‘Monty’ Montesinos to get his thoughts on the game, and more.

Monty’s 93rd minute goal ensured Lincoln went away 1-0 winners in a hard-fought encounter vs Lynx, so we asked the defender his thoughts on the game: “It was an immense joy. We needed that goal, regardless of who scored it, to not drop two points that could be very important come the end of the season.”
Montesinos was of course referring to Lincoln’s title battle with Europa, who earlier in the day had beaten Gib United by the same 1-0 scoreline – the 25-year old underlined the importance of getting the win: “Europa is very strong and are two points clear, so we know that we have to do our job and lose the least possible points from here to the end of the season.”
The two title-chasing sides were also drawn in the last 16 of the Gibtelecom Rock Cup against each other, with the game taking place on Thursday 7th February, so we asked Monty for his thoughts on the draw: “It is possibly the strongest opponent we could have been drawn against. But we are Lincoln and we are obliged to try and win all the matches we play.”
Finally, new Lincoln manager Victor Afonso has had a few weeks now in the job to settle in – so what is the new boss like? “He is a great coach. He is bringing us many things that we perhaps lacked before. Now we need to adapt to the new signings and work together. I am convinced that we will improve a lot.”
