Mons Calpe suffer preseason defeat to AFE

A new-look Mons Calpe side suffered a 3-0 preseason defeat to AFE (a association for professional footballers in Spain.)

Alejandro Jimenez, Carlos Alvarez & Gerard Artigas all scored to seal a good win for the Spanish association.

Since announcing the renewal of Graeme Torrilla & signing of Jaron Vinet earlier in the summer, Mons have been quiet when it comes revealing anything else – until yesterday that was. With Andre Dos Santos having gone out on loan to Lincoln Red Imps & Ruben ‘Rubo’ Blanco’s loan move to Europa looking to have been made permanent – the Calpians looked to have been very busy, building a squad which we expect will mount a serious title challenge next season.

From the twenty players Luis Manuel Blanco took to the game, only eight remain from last season – it would be nine but Torrilla missed the game due to him being on the Gibraltar national team training list for this week.  From the other twelve, names such as Dieguito, Rafa Bado & Kevagn Robba will be recognised by many but none bigger than Juanse Pegalajar who made such a big impact when joining Europa in 2014, which was followed by him signing a short-term contract with their rivals Lincoln for the Champions League qualifiers against Santa Coloma & Midtjylland – that same season.

It’s back to the drawing board for Luis as he continues to put his squad through more preseason work as he looks towards the start of the Premier Division season in under a month’s time!
