TNS v Europa – UCL preview

Europa open their debut Champions League adventure today when they take on the Champions of Wales, The New Saints at 20:00 in the first qualifying round.

The Welsh Champions are favourites to win today and according to articles online should do so comfortably. The game will played in the Park Hall Stadium which is based in Oswestry, a town in England just 8 kilometers away from the Welsh border.

Europa ended Lincoln’s reign by winning the Premier Division shield for the first time since the 1951–52 season. This will be The Green’s first ever appearance in qualifications for the most elite competition in the world.

On the other side, TNS continued their domination by winning their sixth consecutive Welsh Premier League title by twenty seven points. The New Saints are very experienced in European competitions and played against some big clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Anderlecht and in 2011 played Midtjylland who faced off with Lincoln in 2015.

Although TNS are favourites, there isn’t much between both sides. Wes Fletcher & Jon Routledge came through the youth ranks of Manchester United & Liverpool but if Europa perform how they did in their Europa League tie against AIK, we could be in for a shock tonight.
