Manchester 62 continue to cling onto their Premier Division status after beating Brunos Magpies 3-1 in the Playoffs.
Five minutes in the first half and Manchester 62 raced to a 1-0 lead as Jorge Junco latched onto a through ball and fired his effort into the bottom corner from inside the box. Magpies upped their tempo after conceding and looked the much better side but weren’t causing the Red Devils defence any problems.
Man62 doubled their lead in the 30th minute when Aaron Payas picked up a loose ball in the box and slotted it past David Martin. Seven minutes later and it was 3-0 when Diego Pacheco got on the end of a Javi Chacon free-kick to tap the ball in from close.
Despite Magpies dominating possession for large parts of the game, they found themselves 3-0 down at the break. A few minutes after the second half started Magpies had a glorious chance to pull a goal back when a counter-attack found them in a great position to score but poor judgement from Joseph Idali saw Cafer catch his cross.
With around 20 minutes remaining Magpies pulled a goal back when Evan Coleing’s cross found Luke Busumbru who rose above his marker and headed the ball past Matt Cafer. Shortly after Magpies momentum took a heavy blow when midfielder Antonio Huercano picked up a second yellow and was sent off. While the Spaniard was running to the tunnel, he spat towards the Manchester 62 end which enraged both fans and the substitutes.
With the man advantage and Magpies throwing everyone forward, Manchester 62 nearly made it 4-1 but a fantastic piece of defending from Sam Whelan prevented them from extending their lead. The Red Devils saw out the final few minutes and the final whistle sparked wild celebrations from the Manchester 62 fans, players and coaching staff.
