After winning the treble in a 3-0 win against 8-man Lincoln, we caught up with Europa keeper and captain Javi Munoz.
When asked for his thoughts on the eventually comfortable win over their domestic rivals, Munoz said: “We were far superior in the match, it’s just rewards for the season, and they’ve been outplayed today.”
Bernardo Lopes red card in the first 15 minutes hurt Lincoln massively and aided Europa’s quest for victory; Munoz agreed with the significance of the incident: “It was very important for the rest of the match, we made the most of it with goals and great football”
Munoz missed a portion of the season with injury, but eventually came back to help his side win the treble – the keeper was understandably very grateful about how the season panned out after his serious injury: “It has been a difficult season, but I’m just really happy to form part of this team which is more of a family than a team; incredible to win everything there is it win and I’m just happy to be part of it and help the team.”
Europa’s successful season means Champions League football, something the Greens, including Munoz, can look forward to immensely: “Very happy, it’s amazing to be in the Champions Leagu;, just happy to form part of the team, and be part of the competition (UCL) next season“
