Goals from Manuel Camacho Onega and Juan Pablo ‘Pibe’ Pereira gave Mons Calpe a 2-0 victory over Manchester 62.
Manchester 62 got off to a fast start and nearly opened the scoring in the first ten minutes as French forward Marc Alain Paul Tra capitalised on a defensive error, ran on goal and fired a shot which Christian Fraiz saved. Mons Calpe grew stronger as the game went on and in the 32rd took the lead, Facundo Cascio drilled a shot towards goal which found Manuel Camacho who came sliding in to slot the ball into the net.
Five minutes later and Mons nearly doubled their lead but Francisco Zuniga curled his effort wide after getting on the end of a Camacho cross. Just before half-time Manchester 62 nearly equalised but Aaron Payas’ free-kick hit the crossbar. Shortly after Yaro Borg blew for half-time with Mons leading 1-0.
Second half got underway with the Red Devils on the attack, Antonio Urenda skipped past Jose Luis Otero and fired a shot towards goal which Fraiz saved. Mons Calpe made it 2-0 just after the hour mark as Camacho’s cross found Pibe who chested the ball down and fired into the bottom corner.
in the 80th minute Man62 nearly pulled a goal back but a fantastic piece of goalkeeping from Christian Fraiz kept out Aaron Payas’ close range header. In added time Man62 were reduced to 10 men as Ian Rodriguez was sent off for a second bookable offence. Mons saw out the remaining minutes and walked away with all three points.
This win sees Mons rise into fourth, ahead of Glacis United on goal difference while Man62 sit eighth.
