Luke Busumbru scored twice as Brunos Magpies eased to a 4-1 victory over Cannons.
Magpies started the stronger side and nearly scored in the opening 10 minutes, former Britannia midfielder Kevin Poku Boateng capitalised on a error from Adrian Reina and fired a long range shot towards goal which went just wide. As the game went on Cannons settled and looks threatening going forward, Isaac Cereto delivered a corner which found David Hernandez whose header was saved by Manuel Garcia.
30 minutes in and Magpies broke the deadlock, Jose Maria Diaz Mendoza latched onto a through ball from Luke Busumbru and slotted it past the on-rushing Javier Vaello. Four minutes later Cannons nearly equalised but David Hernandez’s header from a Fernando Vera free-kick hit the post.
Magpies went on the counter and doubled their lead as scorer turned provider, Diaz played Busumbru through on goal and fired the ball past Vaello. Cannons nearly pulled a goal back just before half-time but Juan Carlos Pineda fired the ball over from inside the box after being sent through on goal by Guillermo Perez. Shortly after the half-time whistle went with Magpies leading 2-0.
Cannons got off to a fast start in the second half, Samuel Mesua saw his long range effort rocket off the crossbar. Just after the hour mark Magpies made it 3-0, Luke Buxton delivered a free-kick which found Busumbru who rose above his marker and headed the ball past Vaello.
Despite the scoreline Cannons kept attacking and were rewarded with a goal six minutes later as substitute Ismael Ruesca got on the end of a Pineda cross to nod the ball past Garcia. With ten minutes to go Magpies got a fourth, debutant Luis McCoy latched onto a through ball from Busumbru.
Magpies saw out the last few minutes and walked away with three important points. This win sees Magpies remain second and move six points clear of their opponents Cannons in third.
