Mons Calpe comfortably beat Manchester 62 3-0 this evening as their good start to life in the Premier Division continued.
Goals from Michele Di Piedi, Hugo Colace and Juan Pablo Pereira Sastrie ensured the Calpeans move up to third in the table for the time being, while Manchester found themselves eighth before the start of St Josephs vs Europa Point.
Mons took the lead just 12 minutes in; Makan fumbled in the Manchester goal, allowing Ethan Jolley to set up former Sheffield Wednesday striker di Piedi for his fourth goal of the season. The theme of errors costing Manchester has been an all-too familiar one this season; no doubt something the team are working towards eliminating especially given their perilous position in the league as it stands.
To Manchester’s credit, they defended solidly for large parts of the game, but Mons plugged away at them and doubled the lead with 15 minutes to go Colace grabbed his second this season, after being set up by Pereira Sastrie.
There was enough time just before the end of the game for a third; Alan Parker’s excellent cross was headed in by Pereira Sastrie, his sixth of the campaign wrapping up a comfortable win for the newly-promoted side.
