A brace each from Andrew Lopez and Cristian Toncheff, alongside an own goal from Sam Gilroy saw the Reds on their way to victory, with Lions goal coming from Kike to make it 2-1. Their game was severely hampered though when Ian Rodriguez was shown a straight red in the second half at 3-1 down.
Before the game, a minute’s silence was marked after the passing of Brian Dignam earlier in the week, who was an integral part of Manchester 62 as a club for many years and no doubt has helped them get to where they are today.
The first goal came as Toncheff provided Lopez with his first of the afternoon after knocking down a cross from Diego Pacheco. Just seven minutes later, a corner from Javier Chacon hit Gilroy and found its way in the Lions net, making the task even harder for them.
They were handed a lifeline when Kike picked up on a loose ball in the box to fire into the top. They couldn’t use the goal to grow further into the game though and 25 minutes from time Manchester made it 3, as Chacon delivered a free kick which Toncheff headed past Liam Neale. Soon after Rodriguez saw red and the game was over as a contest.
There was enough time for two more goals though, one each for Toncheff and Lopez with good finishes. The win is Manchester’s first this season and moves them on to four points from five games, with Lions still to win this season and having only two points from their five matches.
