St Joseph’s comfortably beat Lions 3-0 tonight thanks to goals from Javier Lopez, Jose Luis Verdejo and Borja Gomez Torres.
It took Saints 15 minute to score past Liam Neale, who came in for Louie Barnfather in the Lions goal. Lopez, who was preparing to set up a chance from a corner, instead scored from the dead ball situation, catching Neale out and giving the Saints the lead.
After losing their first game 2-0, St Josephs will have wanted to make sure they got back on track, and they did tonight, creating a host of chances to extend their lead, which they did on the verge of half time as Verdejo skipped past his marker to fire well into the bottom corner.
In truth it was Neale keeping the score as it was, making a number of saves, but eventually the youngster was beaten for a third time in the 83rd minute, this time Gomez Torres latching onto a Lopez through ball and finishing in the corner.
There weren’t to be any further goals, and Saints’ win puts them in fourth for the time being, while Lions, who lost so narrowly against Europa last time out, find themselves ninth with two losses from two.
