A second half goal from Salvador Carrasco saw Glacis maintain their perfect start this season as they beat Manchester 62 1-0 tonight.
In a game that was hard to call pre-match, it would be Glacis who had the better of the first half, combining a solid defence with creating a couple of chances that Juan Manuel Llaves could not finish. Leandro Pereyra impressed in the Glacis attack, pulling the strings at times especially in the first half.
Manchester almost took the lead early in the second half as Aaron Payas’s lovely shot seemed destined to go in, only for Glacis keeper Borja Gonzalez to pull off an excellent save to deny the Gibraltar international.
That proved vital, as 10 minutes into the second half, Carrasco latched on to a through ball and found the back of the net to give Glacis a lead they never let slip. Manchester questioned the goal, claiming there was a handball by the scorer in the build-up, but it stood.
Manchester’s best chance to level saw Alvaro Navarro have an effort on goal, Gonzalez again pulled off a save which turned out to be match-winning. Glacis go top for the time being with a perfect record, while Manchester sit in sixth with one point from two games and without a win in six in all competitions, a run stretching back to last season.
