Ahead of tomorrow’s Rock Cup final, we caught up with Lincoln Red Imps captain Roy Chipolina as he gave us his views on the game.
Lincoln finished the season with 25 wins from 27 games and were crowned champions for the a 14th consecutive time, we asked how the team is feeling going into the Rock Cup final, “We have been working hard in training and are feeling full of confidence. We know we are up against a very strong Europa team and we will have to be at our best to come out on top.“
Since the departure of Dimas & David Carrasco at Europa, rumours have been going round of problems with the players, we asked if this would give Lincoln the mental edge over their opponents, “I wouldn’t say we have the mental edge over them as they are a very good side full of experienced and talented players. I am sure they will be fired up and looking to pull one over us to come away with some silverware of their own.”
Lincoln will be able to complete the double on Sunday if they beat Europa, how important is this going into the 2016/17 season? Roy answered, “At the start of every season our main objective is to win the league and gain that all important Champions League spot which thankfully we have done, but to win every piece of silverware at stake would complete the perfect season for us. We have the opportunity to achieve this on Sunday and will do our utmost to do so.”
