Second half goals from Joseph Chipolina and Liam Walker were enough for Lincoln to retain their Rock Cup crown for a third consecutive season as they beat Europa 2-0.
The game, a cagey affair, desperately needed a goal and it was Walker who, despite being quiet for most of the game, became the key figure.
His free kick 15 minutes from time was headed in by Joseph to break the deadlock, before he found himself one-on-one with Matt Cafer 10 minutes later. Walker won the battle and Lincoln won the cup in front of a packed main stand.
For Europa, they’ll have to dust themselves off and look at where they went wrong. In the first half, they were the better side but rarely threatened Raul Navas in the Lincoln goal. Taking off Pedro Carrion minutes before Joseph’s goal was unfortunate for them too, but they’ll now look forward to a Europa League campaign in the summer.
