Nana Fiifi Marfo brace sets up Europa Point tie

Brunos Magpies booked a lucrative Second Division Cup final against Europa Point with a convincing 5-0 win over Gib Phoenix.

Magpies took a shock lead in the 21th minute, Nana Fiifi Asare Marfo picked up a loose ball and rifled a shot past Jose Antonio Correro from twenty five yards out. Phoenix nearly equalised instantly, Raul Rocha’s through ball from Adrian Torres who smashed his shot wide from close range. 

Three minutes before half-time Magpies doubled their lead, Nick Dembele whipped in a cross which found Marfo who headed his effort onto the post and Max Bothen was on hold to follow in the rebound. Magpies went into the break leading 2-0.

Phoenix started the second half the stronger side and had a chance to pull a goal back but Jonatan Benavente’s long range effort was comfortably saved by Fernando Sanchez. Phoenix had another chance in the 75th minute when Luis Cortes’ corner hit the post. 

Two minutes later Magpies made it 3-0, Nick Dembele dispossessed Jose Dominguez and drifted past Jonathan Field and with only the keeper to beat, slotted his effort into the bottom corner. Three minutes later Magpies made it 4-0, Harry Perry cut inside the box and squared the ball for Asier Calla Garcia to tap into an empty net. 

Just before the final whistle Magpies made it 5-0, Sam Whelan whipped in a cross which found Nana Fiifi Asare Marfo who smashed his effort past Correro. The referee finally brought an end to the game and Magpies secured a comfortable win.

Europa Point, who beat Cannons 10-0 yesterday, will now face Brunos Magpies in the Second Division Cup final.
