Boris Sanchez double seals win

Two goals from Boris Sanchez guided Angels to a 2-1 win over Gibraltar United and close the gap between them and Glacis Utd to four points.

Gibraltar United got off to a fast start Welerson Ribeiro Filoho’s poor throw saw the ball fall to Pitu Anes’ feet, the midfielder’s lobbed effort went just over. Angels got stronger as the game went on, Boris Sanchez drifted past Jared Buhagiar and whipped in a low cross which found Christian Mena whose shot was saved by Kyle Goldwin.

Minutes later Angels were on the attack again, Fernando Lima Silveira dispossessed David Gallardo and found himself one-on-one with the keeper, Goldwin made an excellent save to keep his effort out. Angels broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute, Boris Sanchez latched onto a through ball, skipped past Carl Thomas and drilled his shot into the bottom corner.

Two minutes after the goal was scored Gibraltar United manager Manuel Nunez Sanchez made a change, Ashley Perez replaced Jared Buhagiar. Ashley Perez made an immediate impact, the fullback outmuscled David Cazorla and whipped in a cross which found Dexter Panzavechia at the back post, the winger’s cut-back found Pitu Anes’ whose shot was saved by Filoho.

Angels were able to hold on for the last few minutes and go into the break with a well deserved 1-0 lead. Both sides made substitutions at half-time, Lython Marquez made his debut as he replaced David Gallardo and Miko Di Pierro replaced Christian Mena.

Angels started the second half the stronger side but were unable to test Gibraltar United keeper Kyle Goldwin. After both sides made a number of changes and Gibraltar United started to get themselves back into the game, Angels doubled their lead in the 76th minute, a cross was whipped in and just out of the reach of Kyle Goldwin, the ball dropped to Boris Sanchez who headed his effort into an empty net.

Gibraltar United nearly replied instantly but Lython Marquez’s header went inches over the crossbar. With five minutes remaining Gibraltar United pulled a goal back, A cross was whipped in and Pitu Anes who headed the ball into the path of Evan Green who guided his effort into the back of the net. 

With the last kick of the ball Gibraltar United full-back Ashley Perez whipped in a cross which found Evan Green but the winger’s headed his effort over the bar. The game restarted and referee Jason Barcelo blew for full-time and Angels walked away with a 2-1 victory.

This win sees Angels close the gap on ninth place Glacis to four points. For Gibraltar United, they remain miss the chance to overtake Manchester 62 and remain eighth.
