Two goals each for Gibraltar internationals Joseph Chipolina and Kyle Casciaro saw Lincoln beat St Joseph’s 4-0 in the Premier Division to regain their six point lead at the top.
Saints, who came into this game after beating Europa 3-1, would have been hoping to shock the current champions, but Lincoln remained as strong as ever to make it 43 points from a possible 45 this season.
It took Lincoln just three minutes to go 1-0 up; Chipolina’s effort finding the top corner, leaving his international teammate Jordan Perez with little chance.
Lincoln kept control of the game throughout the first half, and made it two in the 39th minute, as Kyle Casciaro took advantage of a rebound to put the Red Imps in cruise control for the second half.
Joseph got his second, and Lincoln’s third in the 57th minute, when his penalty found the top corner, despite the best efforts of Perez, who dived the right way, to stop it.
Casciaro wrapped up a pleasant afternoon for his side in the 87th minute, finishing off a good cross from new signing Ruben Freitas.
Both Joseph and Kyle Casciaro have now got 10 goals in the league this season, one behind top scorer and Lincoln talisman Lee Casciaro, who is currently out injured. The sheer number of players contributing goals to Lincoln this season is a big reason as to why they are very likely to retain the title once again, despite the best efforts of Europa in second.
