Late Adrian Pavon free-kick wins game for Europa

A late free-kick from Adrian Pavon secured Europa a vital three points against Lynx. Joselinho gave Europa the lead in the first half, Josh Cuby equalised for Lynx early in the second half.

The first half got underway with both teams enjoying good amounts of position but neither able to create any clear cut chances. Lynx had the first chance of the game but Aaron Akrapovic’s free-kick went wide. Less than 15 minutes in Europa took the lead, a cross from Javi Martinez found Jose Miguel Barranco ‘Joselinho’ who headed his effort past Christian Fraiz.

Europa started to dominate the game but weren’t able to break down the Lynx defence. Just before half-time Lynx had a penalty shout turned down as Juan Pablo Sastrie was brought down in the area, referee Tim Reoch dismissed the appeal and booked the striker for diving.

The second half started with Lynx on the attack and equalising three minutes after kick-off, Josh Cuby latched onto a through ball and drilled his shot past Javi Munoz. After equalising Lynx started to dominate with Europa making a few mistake in midfield and defence but Lynx weren’t able to capitalise.

Ten minutes later Europa had a great chance, Javi Martinez played Jesus Toscano down the wing, the full-backs cross found Pedro Carrion who headed over. Europa continued to pressure, a cross from Toscano found Carrion again, the striker’s header was on target this time and brought out a fantastic save from Christian Fraiz.

With 10 minutes remaining, Europa were awarded a free-kick, Adrian Pavon stepped up and curled his effort over the wall and straight into the top corner, giving Christian Fraiz no chance. With only a few minutes remaining Europa caught Lynx on the counter, Carrion played Antonio Trujillo through on goal, the striker’s effort was saved by Fraiz.

Shortly after the restart, referee Tim Reoch, who had a great game, blew for full-time and Europa walked away with the three points. This win sees Europa move three points clear at the top while Lynx remain fourth.
